Koshi Senior High:
Koshi Senior High School, called "Koshi Koukou", is a co-educational public high school in Fukui City, the capital of Fukui Prefecture. It is currently the largest prefectural high school in Fukui, with a student body of approximately 1,340, and a faculty of 99. Koshi is an academic high school, offering an education which prepares students for further study in university. The name "Koshi" has a somewhat double meaning. The two Chinese characters "‚Žu" used for the name, combine to mean "high ideal". Also, the northern part of Fukui Prefecture was often called "Koshi" up until the establishment of the present-day system of Prefectures (like states) after the Meiji Restoration in 1868.
